Description
Our third and final meet a philosopher event for the 2025-26 year features Sari Kisilevsky, associate professor of philosophy at Queens College, CUNY.
Sari will lead us through a fictional legal case, “The Case of the Speluncean Explorers,” which serves as a starting point for exploring the main questions in the philosophy of law. Disaster befalls a group of cave explorers. Tough decisions have to be made. Not everyone survives. What are the legal liabilities of the survivors? Oh, and it involves cannibalism, so join the discussion with an empty stomach.
Sari has written up an outline of the case, which you can access here. As usual, we’ll begin our hour-long meeting with a round of hellos and introductions. Then Sari willl present the case and then lead us through a discussion of five questions that we, judges on the Supreme Court of Newgarth, must rule on.
We will meet on Zoom on Wednesday, May 13 at the following times:
- West coast of North America: 11am
- East coast of the United States: 2pm
- Ireland and UK: 7pm
- Western Europe: 8pm
